The Final Lap..?
Wah wah wah. It's been a "W.A.S.T.E."-ful 4 days. It seems like things keep rolling and rolling and rolling, not stopping. It's like all this while, everything we've been doing was gaining momentum and we've finally broke through Mach 5.
I'm getting ahead of myself. Too many things have happened and has left me utterly exhausted. Finally I am able to blog... so let's start with Saturday..
SATURDAY As planned, we had a BBQ. Since there were still abundant supply from the TS BBQ, I offered to bring most of the logistics like the grill and charcoal. On the day itself, I carried the charcoal, 2 aluminium trays, the grill, plastic bags and my own backpack and trudged all the way to MEC. Sure, the load ain't that heavy but when carrying it up and down a hill, scorched by the blessed sun (blessed for if no sun, it'll be raining and we don't need rain for our BBQ ^_^), it was quite a work out for my arms.
As if it wasn't enough, I collected 2 tents, disposable plates and cups and a soccer ball. Struggled to Kembangan MRT where I met up with Ezza and took a cab to East Coast.
We were early but it was cool. Set up one tent first while waiting for the rest. Ezza went off to pass something to Wan. Ama and Shah arrived and finally the BBQ kicked off. CT came soon after. It was slow but nevertheless we had fun... 'til Maghrib, sunset. Of all the pits, the lamp post at our pit was down. BBQ-ing in the dark is never fun. Luckily Shah and Shad brought torchlights so no overcooked food. When the new bag of charcoal as well as the firestarters finally arrived courtesy of Shah and Ezza (erm, correct right? Can't remember everything. hehe..) the pace picked up considerably.
Overall, BBQ fun, no un-cooked or over-cooked food, largest variety of food BBQ-ed ever for me (menu included lamb chops, marshmallows, lots of fish, chicken, otak-otak, fishballs, cuttlefish balls, cheese hot dogs.. yum!) and the company of good friends.
Towards the end, Shad was in the "impending doom" mood, anticipating his enlistment. Can't blame him. He gave a piece of a puzzle to each of us, kinda nice symbolism that we're a part of a perfectly-fitting piece, together we're one. Friends forever, Insya Allah..
Unfortunately, Shad and Ama couldn't stay overnight so it was just me, Wan, Ezza, Shah and CT. I had planned to stay up all night and I nearly did. I even played Solitaire and Freecell with real cards while waiting for Wan and Ezza to return from 7 Eleven. I guess in the end, staying up alone is no fun. After ensuring that no cats can steal our breakfast, I finally fell asleep around 4.30am..
Only to wake up at 6am for Subuh. Haha.. Well, after praying, went back to sleep..
Only to wake up at 8am! How nice!
SUNDAY One of the first things we did in the morning was to reheat the food and cooked the remaining otak-otak. I cleared my tent quite early since I wanted to pack up fast and then worry about other stuff. Later went swimming abit with Wan.. only to end up with greasy palms and soles. I know EC beach isn't so clean but I didn't expect to walk out of the ocean with thick black oil on parts of my left hand and right foot. Haha.. Well, at least Wan got the worse of it.
Bathed, packed up and walked... walked all the way to a Bus 32 bus-stop. OK, an idea of how far we walked. We started out from the extreme East of Costa Sands of East Coast, walked to the bridge near VJC, continued all the way to the 32 bus stop in front of the petrol station.. carrying tents, charcoals, our bags... My left shoulder and right arm were slightly sore the next day.
You'd think that after an overnight by the beach and hardly sleeping, I'd be resting at home.. but that's too predictable. Haha.. Me and Wan went home first, dropped off our load, bathed again, solat then meet up with them plus Shad again for IRC! Counter-strike! Haha.. crazy nuts we are, we went to IRC, played IRC til around 6pm. Thinking about it, it may be the last CS game I might have played before going botak.
Went to Changi Airport after all that since Abah was coming home from Bangkok. I was there early so had dinner at McD. I've not been to T2 lately so I took my time to take a look at its new designs. Kinda fancy but I don't particularly like the new decor for the Arrival floor. The ceiling makes it seem more cramped. Previously there was a lot of space between the ceiling and the floor but with some "wave" stuff on the ceiling, the impression on me now is it's a lot more cramped. What to do..
No prizes for what I did upon arriving home.. Haha..
MONDAY Honestly speaking, I didn't expect much for Monday. No real plans. Thought I was gonna chill out and recuperate... but when Wan ajak main Dota, APA LAGI! Hahaha.. Played two losing Dota games, 2 restarted Wintermauls and ending with one half-way through Wintermauls before going for Asar.
Makan for the second time at Yishun, then rush to Marsiling for training. Training was nice. Did what I wanted, no problems.. I'm sure I'm leaving them under good hands.
Since there were some matters to sort out, went to Yew Tee after training. Since we were gonna be late, Syafiq was permitted to stay over at my home. We later had some drinks and food at the new eatery next to Raimah's.
Again, after solat, slumber befell upon me rather instantly.. Sigh...
TUESDAY Managed to sleep well into 9-10 am. (Did wake up for Subuh though! 8o ) Had pizza for breakfast, watched some cartoon, did a really rush design job, played with those toy guns with Syafiq and Safwan in our block (those realistic looking guns that shoot out those small plastic round bullets), makan lunch before rushing over to Somerset with Syafiq to watch "Akeela and The Bee" with Ezza, Wan and Shad.
The movie itself is good. I enjoyed it. It's not really an inspirational movie but it was an enlightening experience. I did learn something from the movie. It's not good enough to know how to spell a word or even memorise 50,000 words. You need to learn how it's derived, its origins and its application. This concept can be applied in everything you do.
Of course, you can just "memorise" but you cannot claim to truly master something if you do not possess in-depth knowledge about everything related to it - its origins, its variations, its combinations, its meanings...
and HERE WE ARE.. Tomorrow is Shad's last day as a normal citizen before officially converted to "Singaporean Man". Hehe.. Personally I got to finish a banner and have training from 2-4pm at SP but other than that I ought to be free. I guess I can get my "complete" rest once Shad's enlisted. In the meanwhile, I can just be drained by Maghrib. Hehe..
Okay, I'm starting to have migraines. Bathe, Solat, Sleep. Au revoir..
Oh, think I'm gonna change my BG song before I book in. Hehe..
