Finally, I've gotten myself one of my dream items - a customised, DIY CPU!
Ever since Sec 2, when I got into gaming and learnt more about computers and tech stuff, I've been envious of Shad's custom PC.
So far all the desktop PCs in my household has been the manufactured kinds. Compaq. Acer. Dell. As my needs and usage changed I tried to get PCs to suit my preferences.. But it's not the same as a self-assembled console.
So when my Acer Iconia Duo stiarted showing signs of aging, and because I was eager to play Titanfall and return to gaming, I decided to finally get my dream PC.
Being a complete Noob, I consulted Shad and went to Sim Lim Square yesterday. With his know-how and research, we got everything I need for $1125. Pretty good if you ask me.
Before 2pm we were back at his home and spent nearly 3hrs assembling, installing and some troubleshooting.
One of e things that had held me back from getting a DIY com in the past was my infamiliarity with OS and softwares. So yesterday was good for me and I found that it was actually pretty straightforward.
We still lacked two parts so after dropping his brother in law off, we had dinner at Tampines Qiji before heading to Challenger. We did not get the SATA cable but managed to purchase a VGA-HDMI adapter.
Reaching home, I spent even more time installing more programmes and troubleshooting some errors. By midnight, I've played my first Titanfall match.
Titanfall is an entirely new experience. The thought of playing against players online and the idea of a Titan suddenly appearing in front of me was intimidating. Took me a while to get into the game. 1 pilot kill, 1 Titan destroyed and 6 grunts kill which I don't remember doing (probably thanks to my Titan which I did not get on and was on Auto mode).. Yeah, poor performance.. But thrilling nonetheless.
Alhamdulillah. Ever slowly I'm knocking things off my wishlist. So.. If I'm staying home more.. Well.. You know why..
Preparing for Titanfall. :-)
